LEONARD PARIS x ALAMA at Paris Fashion Week
For the Spring/Summer 2019 season, the Maasai women of ALAMA project collaborated with Leonard Paris and its creative director Christine Phung in order to develop an empowering and radically different relation to ornamentation. Every piece of jewelry has been handmade by a Maasai woman and is a symbol of Leonard Paris’ support of Maasai craftsmanship. ALAMA’s jewelry designs enveloped the models’ necks and ear lobes and even inspired Christine Phung to create an adornment in braided silk within her collection. We’d like to thank Leonard Paris for this opportunity and for empowering Maasai culture, thereby fighting against cultural appropriation.
