On August 8th 2019, Lala Berlin presented its Spring/Summer 2020 collection during the official schedule of Copenhagen Fashion Week. In an exclusive setting for 200 Guests at the Christiansborg Ridebane which is part of Christiansborg castle where the Danish parliament is located, the Berlin based contemporary brand showed 24 Looks. Titled “Lala Island”, the collection is an exploration of how we merge cultural identities and celebrates a free, no-boundaries utopia where tolerance and free spirits reign.
Aesthetic influences from all over the globe have been beautifully and freely combined, creating syncretized, DIY-inspired looks which cannot be clearly traced back to one particular culture yet combine the unique features of many. Summery light silks, printed in a vibrant snake pattern are mixed with striking florals and cross-stitched Kufiya embroidery.
To complement the eclectic collection, the show styling uses the one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces by culture-to-we-ar label ALAMA that are produced and designed in Northern Tanzania in partnership with the NGO Africa Amini Alama. Founded in 2016 in collaboration with 35 Maasai women artisans, the aim of ALAMA is to empower the legacy of the Maasai tribe through meaningful jewelry designed for anyone who wishes to support their culture and craftsmanship. 3 pieces have been exclusively designed for Lala Berlin: An earring, a necklace and a body chain. The full Lala Berlin Spring/Summer 20 collection, including a stand-alone bag range and selected statement jewelry pieces, will be available from January 2020 at the Lala Berlin flagship stores in Berlin and Copenhagen, online trough www.lalaberlin.com, as well as with selected retailers.
